Mission Statement

Our mission is based on the United States Constitution's original principles and not on any political platform. We are an independent "grass roots" organization representing the citizens of the Louisiana Northshore.  Our focus is on the federal government and a return of political power to the people.  The Northshore Tea Party is open to all who share our principles.  These principles include the belief in:

Constitutionally limit government

Fiscal responsibility

Individual rights and freedoms

National defense and sovereignty

History

Louisiana's Northshore Tea Party was founded in April, 2009 as a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC).  This citizen's movement was created in response to excessive government growth, spending, taxation, and the expanding encroachment of government into our personal lives and the erosion of our national values caused by governement policies and programs.

Beliefs

  • The federal government should return to its constitutionally enumerated powers
  • The national debt should be paid down and a constitutionally mandated balanced budget to be enacted
  • Reduction of repressive governmental regulations and laws
  • Congressional term limits
  • Application of all federal laws to congress and all federal departments and agencies
  • Transparent accountability in government
  • Border security and consistent immigration policies
  • Enforcement of the 10th Amendment in our court system(s)
  • Smaller government and the transfer of powers to the states
  • Tax reform with no excluded classes
  • Elemination of waste, fraud, duplication, and abuse within the system

Where is the Northshore Tea Party Located?

The Northshore Tea Party is located on the northern shoreline of Lake Pontchartrain in southeast Louisiana.

The majority of our members come from Washington, Tangipahoa and in particular St. Tammany Parishes.  The towns/cities of Covington, Mandeville, Madisonville, Abita Springs, Slidell, Lacombe, Goodbee, Pearl River, Bush and Folsom are responsible for more than half of the Northshore Tea Party's membership.  While most of our members are residents of the Northshore, it is certainly not a requirement for joining or attending a rally.  We have had attendees at our events coming from as far away as Metairie, New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Mississippi's Gulf Coast.

Anyone who shares our belief in limited Constitutional government, reductions in both taxes and spending and general fiscal responsibility is welcome to join our organization.

Most Northshore Tea Party events are held in western St. Tammany Parish, with the bulk of them occurring in either Covington or Mandeville.
